Welcome to Blyth Primary School

Situated just 121 kilometres from the state capital of Adelaide, our school is located within the township of Blyth, boasting wonderfully open and spacious grounds. Our extensive grounds accommodate an orchard, multiple garden beds, beehives, trial crop plots, and chickens. During break time, learners can enjoy our oval, playgrounds, or numerous shaded spaces.

Our curriculum aligns with the Australian Curriculum, and our teaching practices and delivery undergo regular review as part of our improvement journey. For the year 2024, our classes are organised into R/1, 2/3/4, and 5/6 groups. Learners spend time with their class teachers for Literacy, Numeracy, Arts, HASS, and Design and Technology. Specialist teachers handle Science, Japanese, and HPE. Our learning environments are open and inviting, supported by quality SSO staff specialising in classroom support and targeted intervention programs as required.

All classrooms are equipped with smart touchscreens, and we maintain a 1:1 ratio for Surface Go devices for students. Our library continually updates its collection of books, offering learners borrowing times throughout the week.

We have an active school community with a Governing Council and Parent Club, both meeting twice per term. Our working bees serve the dual purpose of keeping our learning spaces fresh and renewed, as well as being a social event for families to spend time together. The Parent Club organises three tuck days per term, allowing learners to purchase a healthy option meal and dessert for lunch. Additionally, we offer lunch orders once per week, providing tasty and healthy options.

Learners can participate in SAPSASA events across a range of sports and often have students making state carnival sides. We engage in a yearly school sports day with neighbouring schools, offering learners the opportunity to compete and socialise with different schools. We conduct water safety lessons once per year at a local swimming pool to ensure learners feel safe around water. Throughout the year, we access Sporting School grants that allow us to bring in specialised coaches and sporting groups to provide new and exciting movement activities.

We collaborate with schools in our area to build teacher capacity and networks, as well as to provide new experiences for our learners. As part of the Mid North Clare Partnership, we contribute to the Continuity of Learning team working to create smooth transitions from preschool to Year 12 in our area.

Blyth Out of School Hours Care (OSHC) operates on all school days. We cater to all primary school aged students and provide an accredited service between 3.20pm and 6.pm. The OSHC program utilises the school grounds and has a dedicated space inside.

Please free to get in touch to organise a time to tour our beautiful school, and see for yourself how quality local education is shaping the future of learners in and around Blyth.
